Dr. Laura Spenceley was appointed Dean of the School of Education in June 2022. In this role, she supports the recruitment, development and evaluation of faculty and staff in the School of Education; oversees the implementation of programs within the School of Education; and works with department chairs, faculty and staff to develop new programs and improve existing programs. Spenceley, who was appointed interim dean of the School of Education for the 2021-2022 academic year, has served the SUNY Oswego community for the better part of a decade, most recently as associate dean in the Division of Graduate Studies. She has also served as a member of the faculty, teaching as an assistant professor and associate professor in the Counseling and Psychological Services Department.
Spenceley's research interests include mechanisms to improve the validity of psychoeducational evaluations and academic accommodations for students with disabilities. She received a doctor of philosophy (in school psychology) from Syracuse University, a master of arts (in clinical psychology) from Ball State University and her bachelor of science (in psychology) from Western Michigan University.
