Gary Morris brings 30 years of public and private higher education career services experience to his position as Director of Career Services. In his current role, he provides strategic leadership and overall management for the Office of Career Services, housed within University Advancement. Often in leadership positions within regional and state associations, he has won many awards for exemplary work related to student and alumni success - including the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2015. In 2012, he strategically transitioned Career Services to a career community model, and is currently highly engaged in integrating career education and readiness into the curriculum. He has led SUNY Oswego students in transformative experiences in Africa, Central America, and downtown Oswego, recruited international students in Taiwan, developed a nationally-recognized sophomore year experience, created and taught a management course within the School of Business, designed a variety of annual events, and more.
Prior to joining SUNY Oswego in 1996, he served in Career Services at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Union College, and Kent State University, where he received his master's degree. He is a proud member of the SUNY Oswego Class of 1988, where he studied psychology and communications.
