Craig Gilkey, LMHC, NCC serves as a visiting assistant professor/lecturer in the Human Development Department at SUNY Oswego teaching courses in child development, adolescent development, and adult development. As an undergraduate McNair Scholar, Craig has research experience in the Relationships Across Development Laboratory at SUNY Oswego studying attachment theory under Matthew Dykas, PhD. Previous to his current role, Craig held an adjunct teaching position with the Human Development Department, a visiting assistant professor position in the Psychology Department, and taught a course in the Mental Health Counseling, MS program all at SUNY Oswego.
Craig is a graduate of SUNY Oswego’s Human Development BA program with a minor in Athletic Coaching (2010) as well as the Mental Health Counseling MS program in 2014. He is currently a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in New York State and a nationally certified counselor (NCC). Craig works as a therapist part-time in his private practice where he utilizes the TEAM-CBT framework of therapy with adolescents and adults across the lifespan. Craig has served as counselor-in-residence with the Residence Life and Housing Department at SUNY Oswego, a senior counselor athletic specialist at Binghamton University, and as a part-time counselor at SUNY Oswego’s Counseling Services Center. Craig specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy where he has reached Level 4 TEAM-CBT certification and is actively pursuing a Beck Institute CBT Certified Clinician designation. Craig is informed and has trained in acceptance and commitment therapy and is excited about recent advancements in process-based therapy.
Craig is native to central New York and calls Oswego home to him and his three amazing daughters and spouse.
