Oz Inclusivity Playbook 2024

One of SUNY Oswego’s institutional priorities is to build a more inclusive community. The Triandiflou Institute is committed to this engagement through our Oz Inclusivity Playbook.

Large group of faculty, staff, and students supporting Oswego by wearing green and gold and waving green and gold flags

Purpose:

The Oz Inclusivity Playbook maps engagement and observations of different social identities and provides offerings to connect educational opportunities to students, faculty, and staff about events happening across the campus and in the Syracuse areas (sometimes including the Rochester and NYC areas). The initiative engages in three key ways:

  1. Calendar of observances: Using the Gregorian calendar (January - December), we have identified different observances related to religious and cultural traditions. Some observance dates are subject to change each year.
  2. Educational resources: We provide information as to the significance of the observance and some historical context. Additionally, we will share on-campus and community-related opportunities for engagement.
  3. Intentional, collaborative partnerships: This work is done with our community in mind. Our students, faculty, staff, and administrators may identify with one or more of these observances or are allies in this work. We will highlight their identities and their work to connect our community to more opportunities and to expand their knowledge.
May

For the month of May, the Institute will highlight multiple observations with a focus on Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month. Check out the website with resources, events, and other information: APIDA Heritage Month

There will be events from departments, student organizations, classes discussing, and much more. We ask that you attend, encourage others to attend, or plan out events. If there are events or activities not included, please let us know by emailing Terrian Garvis at [email protected]
