Class of 2021Broadcasting major
Following her time at WTOP-10, Linn will begin her career as a multimedia journalist at KTRE News in Eastern Texas.
In what might seem an anxious adventure for some, moving to another state for a future career brings immense excitement to Linn.
“I’m so excited to move to East Texas,” Linn said. “I’ve never been there and I don’t know a soul, but I’m ready for the adventure!”
Working at the school’s student-run television broadcasting station WTOP-10 provided an extensive amount of experience that helped land her the job at KTRE.
“I’m so proud that I secured a job directly after graduation and I have my professors and WTOP-10 to thank for it,” said Linn. “I’ve been involved in WTOP since I transferred here my sophomore year and it’s taught me so many lessons -- and brought me so many new friendships!”
Linn said one important thing she learned while attending Oswego was how to grow as a person and become a polished news reporter, ready to start a news career after graduation.
“My time here at SUNY Oswego has taught me so much,” Linn said. “I’ve met so many people and I learned and grew so much as a person. My education at Oswego has taught me everything I know about being a news reporter.”
One solid piece of advice that Linn would like to pass onto future students is to take what Oswego has to offer full-on and find opportunities to grow.
“The best advice I can give to people is to live outside your comfort zone and take risks -- this is where the best growth comes,” said Linn. “I’m so grateful for all the memories I’ve made here and I don’t want to leave!”
