Leah Galka was hired in September 2019 to serve as program manager for the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) contracts project and to assist in managing day-to-day aspects of Consultant Services and Work-Skill Building Training projects.
Leah comes to the Office of Business and Community Relations with nearly ten years of experience as an information professional in higher education. In her current role, she is primarily responsible for managing OTDA contracts and ensuring that the entire process — from RFQ to final invoice — runs as smoothly as possible.
Before coming to the OBCR in Oswego, Leah had worked as a librarian in several institutions, including Cayuga Community College, SUNY Buffalo State, and SUNY Oswego. She was also involved with SUNY OER Services and was the OER (open educational resources) campus lead at Buffalo State. The skills she gained as a librarian — including customer service, information organization and retrieval, and project management — translate well to her current program manager role.
Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from SUNY Oswego and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Syracuse University.
