Financial Wellbeing

Financial wellbeing encourages balancing our perspectives about money and budgets, productive ways to handle stress related to finances, and practical techniques to manage, earn, spend, and save money. As a college student, an emerging young adult or working professional, personal finances can be a stressful area to manage. However, with the right tools, resources, and education, you can learn how to manage your finances and improve your overall financial wellbeing.

Follow the links below for quick access to various topics on our page.

Budgeting

By planning and tracking your expenses and income, you can keep spending under control. A college student budget often helps you stay out of debt and plan for the future. These practices are typically worth the time and discipline they require.

How To Make A Budget As A Student

The Study Tube Project explains how to create and use a budget as a student. This is in no way meant to be insensitive towards anyone's financial situations that may have changed due to the current situation, it's purely education, and speaks broadly. Keep in mind that you don’t have to fill out a spreadsheet every day. You can set aside some time at least once a month or biweekly to review your money situation.

Tuition & Cost of Attendance

SUNY Oswego offers numerous scholarships, grants, and loans to help reduce costs associated with attending college. The Office of Financial Aid can provide assistance, explain the various options, and help determine which ones might be best for you.

Some of what Financial Aid can offer includes:

How To Read Your College Bill

This video created by Get Schooled will walk you through your college tuition bill to help you make sense of it. Financial Aid offers a breakdown of Undergraduate tuition and fees and Graduate tuition and fees.

For more information, visit the Financial Aid website, call 315-312-2248, email [email protected] or visit them in person at 231 Sheldon Hall.
